Marion Balac (1984)
French artist with a degree in Fine Arts from the ENSBA in Lyon and a Master in Arts from the Paris 1 Panthéon La Sorbonne University.
Her work uses different media such as video, photography, drawing, screenshots and websites. Collecting data and images, using everyday websites as creation tools, she elaborates fictions and unprecedented situations.
The way in which the landscapes evolve and also, the way in which we see them, becomes the starting point of her wanderings, her investigations and games. From her computer or IRL, she travels to strange places to observe the landscape. She Converts data into fictions and objects into stories. Dealing with cartography and upstream tourism, she transforms her observations of tourist uses as those of locals into performances, novels, or movies. Her work has been exhibited at Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Khorshid Film Festival (Téhéran), Bandits-Mages (Bourges), Espace des Blancs-Manteaux (Paris), l'Abbaye (Annecy-le-Vieux), Galerie Neuf (Nancy), Hectoliter gallery (Brussels), Musée Saint-Raymond (Tolosa). She has had the possibility of developing her work in residences such as the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid or the Bellefour Room in Buenos Aires. In 2017 she exhibited at the Thaddeus Ropac (Pantin) gallery for the Jeune Création exhibition.
