The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya is the leading public art museum in Catalonia. Beyond its Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, it has an outstanding collection of modern and contemporary art, with essential works of Modernism and the art produced during the Spanish Civil War. With the new Museum, which will open its doors in 2029, the collection will be expanded through the 1980’s.
Moreover, for the last several years the “Artists in the Museum” programme has been welcoming and exhibiting the work of contemporary artists whose work opens up the collection and the museum to new narratives.
