El Born is one of the most historic neighbourhoods of Barcelona. Today, it has become one of the epicenters of leisure and tourism and it keeps the memory of the old Riera in its squares and cobbled streets that invite you for a walk. The ancient arts and crafts workshops have given way to designers’ studios, artists' workshops, boutiques, galleries and art centers that have transformed the neighborhood into a sort of "Barcelona's Soho".
In the late 80s, the first galleries and art institutions arrived at Borne, and with this, a new generation of gallerists was born with a renewed sensitivity that helped boost the local art market. Although many of these spaces have already disappeared, we are witnessing a rebirth of a galleristic focus in this area.
