“Agnus” intention is not to be an objective insight into the world of livestock farming. Nor does it place the farmer at the centre of the story. It is a partisan look at reality, a metaphor for life and death with the sheep as protagonists. The high contrasts of light and darkness represent two antagonistic worlds: life and death, man and nature. The exploitation of livestock is represented as a stagnant, inalterable world in which the inhabitants wander, subject to the transience of life.
