L&B gallery has de pleasure to introduce an exhibition by the Italian artist Pietro Capogrosso (Trani, 1967) for the Barcelona Gallery Weekend 2018.

"I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to be anything but a painter.

I feel I belong to painting, which I consider a mental and physical conviction.

I have the feeling of absorbing light and I have to pass it on through my work.

An adventure, a constant abandonment to the pleasure of painting and its complicity.

The canvas layout is a field full of virtual energies in which apparently similar dynamics appear between the substance and the transparency flow, between the opaque and the luminous, the figurative and the abstract creating, through an exercise of balance, an appearance, an affection landscape that transcends from reality and becomes more abstract. Thin border lines build a silent stroke of places witnessed for a very long time: diaphanous, immaterial, rare and nearly monochrome images.

A story inside painting, a perpetual exam where every color pattern covers, but at the same time keeps traces or signs from a previous passage.

A threshold painting that compresses the whole internal and external reality, material and mental, all set in the epiphany of image."
