Juliane Hundertmark, a German artist resident in Berlin, creates mythical and rebellious characters in her imaginary world, gathered to create theatrical and disturbing scenes. Many of them refer to historical and religious events, where monstrosity appears to define human contrariety.

Released from their original context, the protagonists become contemporaries, ironically prepared. Her favourite subject is the weakness of the human beings, the abyss of their existence. The romantic and dark colours that she uses emphasize this level of meaning

We find in her narrative this balance granted by the fast and brilliant painting. It is combined with small parts of collage to create an equal world in beauty and strangeness.
