From September 29 to October 2nd, the second edition of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend<\/strong>, the annual artistic reference event, for art lovers, collectors, professionals and artists, celebrated in Barcelona. For four days Barcelona becomes the hub of national and international contemporary art sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Galleries, public and private institutions, museums and independent art spaces join the initiative organized by Art Barcelona<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bthe Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bwhich in this second edition grows in number of participants and proposals<\/strong>, positioning itself as one of the reference citations in the European art calendar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second edition of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend will feature an extensive program in the most important galleries of the city<\/strong>, a program of artistic interventions produced especially for the BGW 2016 landmarks and little known of Barcelona<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bguided tours<\/strong>, project spaces<\/strong> and exhibitions in major institutions and museums.<\/strong><\/p>\n

23 galleries 1 foundation and 24 exhibitions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BGW 2016 will feature the participation of 23 galleries, 21 in Barcelona and 2 in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat,<\/strong> each one will host an exhibition of contemporary art created specially for the event. In addition, the art center Blueproject Foundation adds to the overall program of the BGW 2016.<\/p>\n

The selection committee of the BGW 2016 hosts critics and curators Montse Badia<\/strong>, \u00c0lex Mitrani<\/strong> and Joana Hurtado<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The unique program spaces “Compositions”<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As in the last edition, the BGW 2016 has the “Compositions” program. Five artistic interventions produced especially for the BGW that can be visited for free only during the four-day event<\/strong>, located at unique and little-known places<\/strong> of the city of Barcelona. The program, curated by Latitudes (Max Andrews & Mariana C\u00e1nepa Luna)<\/strong>, values \u200b\u200bthe cultural history of the city.<\/p>\n

Ar\u00fas Public Library<\/strong>, founded in 1895 by philanthropist, activist, showman and freemason Rossend Ar\u00fas, and donated to the people of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthe Barcelona City Police Stables<\/strong>, \u200b\u200blocated in a former pavilion of the Universal Exhibition of 1888 and which now houses the 38 horses of the police, the Barcelona Billiards Club<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bfounded in 1928 in the basement of the old Coliseum Gran Via, and the former textile factory Can Trinxet<\/strong>, created in 1905 and one of the best examples of architecture in L’Hospitalet industrial, these are some of the spaces that will host artistic interventions of this program.<\/p>\n
