For four days <strong>Barcelona becomes the hub of national and international contemporary art sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Galleries, public and private institutions, museums and independent art spaces join the initiative <strong>organized by Art Barcelona<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bthe Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bwhich in this second edition <strong>grows in number of participants and proposals<\/strong>, positioning itself as one of the <strong>reference citations in the European art calendar.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second edition of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend will feature an <strong>extensive program in the most important galleries of the city<\/strong>, a program of <strong>artistic interventions produced especially for the BGW 2016 landmarks and little known of Barcelona<\/strong>, <strong>\u200b\u200bguided tours<\/strong>, <strong>project spaces<\/strong> and <strong>exhibitions in major institutions and museums.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>\n<p><strong>23 galleries 1 foundation and 24 exhibitions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The BGW 2016 will feature the <strong>participation of 23 galleries, 21 in Barcelona and 2 in L&#8217;Hospitalet de Llobregat,<\/strong> each one will host an exhibition of contemporary art created specially for the event. In addition, the art center Blueproject Foundation adds to the overall program of the BGW 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The selection committee of the BGW 2016 hosts critics and curators <strong>Montse Badia<\/strong>, <strong>\u00c0lex Mitrani<\/strong> and <strong>Joana Hurtado<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The unique program spaces &#8220;Compositions&#8221;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As in the last edition, the BGW 2016 has the <strong>&#8220;Compositions&#8221; program. Five artistic interventions produced especially for the BGW that can be visited for free only during the four-day event<\/strong>, located at <strong>unique and little-known places<\/strong> of the city of Barcelona. The program, curated by <strong>Latitudes (Max Andrews &amp; Mariana C\u00e1nepa Luna)<\/strong>, values \u200b\u200bthe cultural history of the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ar\u00fas Public Library<\/strong>, founded in 1895 by philanthropist, activist, showman and freemason Rossend Ar\u00fas, and donated to the people of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthe <strong>Barcelona City Police Stables<\/strong>, \u200b\u200blocated in a former pavilion of the Universal Exhibition of 1888 and which now houses the 38 horses of the police, the <strong>Barcelona Billiards Club<\/strong>, \u200b\u200bfounded in 1928 in the basement of the old Coliseum Gran Via, and the <strong>former textile factory Can Trinxet<\/strong>, created in 1905 and one of the best examples of architecture in L&#8217;Hospitalet industrial, these are some of the spaces that will host artistic interventions of this program.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>All information in<\/strong><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/teresavallbona.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=2d78817ab85e5354ed0388914&amp;id=e6031a5c2f&amp;e=12fc785743\">www.barcelonagalleryweekend.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From September 29 to October 2nd, the second edition of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend, the annual artistic reference event, for art lovers, collectors, professionals and artists, celebrated in Barcelona.
