Alberto Agulló

Inspire

At the end of 2015 we exhibited for the first time the work of a young photographer from Barcelona, Alberto Agulló -until then unpublished. From the very beginning, we were captivated by his series Szimpla Kert, a set of photographs taken in a café of Budapest. His photos had something very pictorial, without being retouched or altered with digital filters. They portrayed the space and the graffiti that flooded it as if the photograph itself were real graffiti.

A year later, after having shown his work in the collective exhibition Desde la barra (N2 Gallery, Barcelona, Dec.2015-Jan.2016) and JustMAD Art Fair (Madrid, Feb.2016), we are pleased to present his first Solo Show: Inspire.

In Inspire you will find a selection from the most emblematic works of three of his series: Szimpla Kert, Nostalgia and L.E.D, printed on Ilford Galerie Prestige paper. You will be able to see an anthological video with all the series of Agulló, where you can appreciate his particular way of using the light.

In Nostalgia you will find, as in Szimpla Kert, highly pictorial photographs, but this time the main motive are ruins, but not decaying ruins, an enlightened one. While in L.E.D., architecture and nature are caught together on a ghostly grayscale, but with a material consistency that sometimes resembles a sculpture.

The fact that in little over a year, Agulló’s work has already been positioned in collections of first level, both public and private, confirms that first intuition that took us back in 2015 to represent this young photographer from Barcelona.
