Included in the program of the 14th edition of Barcelona Design Week, L&B Gallery presents the 4th edition of DUP | Design Unique Piece. Since 2015, L&B has been committed to the design community in the emerging Barcelona's neighbourhood of Poblenou and establishes an annual exhibition of design unique piece.
For DUP | 2019, the gallery has the pleasure to propose a project curated by Guendalina Perelli –expert in active communication in Milan and Barcelona and head of thesignspeaking design magazine– inspired by the work of the renowned Lebanese pioneer artist Etel Adnan (Beirut, 1925). The curator sets a dialogue between designers who, by birth or choice, live in Barcelona.
From New York to Beirut, from Sausalito to Paris, the work of the Lebanese artist is inspired by the cities and landscapes she has discovered and traveled. In its palette of colors stand out the chromatic exercises immersed in the Mediterranean light. Alien everywhere without having gone through exile, Etel Adnan lives the 20th Century with intensity and in a perpetual present, described in her texts how places and languages have shaped her work.
The exhibition presents unique design pieces that contribute to creating harmoniously a home with the essence of Etel Adnan. The link with BDW 2019’s titled “Transitions” is not only between art and design: its the invitation to walk through the spaces of the gallery as one who travels between the rooms of a house and also between different designers and different objects.
