This month, more than 4,000 museums in more than 40 countries will open its doors the night of May 21 to celebrate the Night of Museums. It’s a very special event for citizens and tourists, who can enjoy the art centers of Barcelona.
The Night of Museums is an initiative of the Council of Europe, which comes as a complement for the International Museum Day celebrated on May 18. On this date, the international museum community wants to raise awareness about the role of museums in the cultural field at a local and international level.
You will find them open from 19 h this Saturday 21th of may. The entrance will be free. You are invited to see their collections with another perspective: at night light! Great things will happen. Because, besides visiting them with different light, you can enjoy concerts, performances, guided tours, shows, workshops and activities for the whole family.
Like each year, the venues of the Contemporary Art Tour will join this celebration with a full program of events, designed for all ages. Centers such as the Fundació Joan Miró, the MACBA, or the Fundació Antoni Tàpies will have activities especially designed for the family audience, looking for building up long-term relationships with the little ones. All centers that are part of the Circuit will have guided tours of its exhibitions, and they have a very rich and varied offer.
